Blanche H. Wallis

Blanche H. Wallis, daughter of Albert and Maude Grove, was born on June 2, 1912, in Boyero, Colorado, and passed away on August 19, 2006, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 94. Her childhood was spent in Birch Tree, Missouri, and graduated from Birch Tree High School. Following graduation from high school, she attended the University of Texas. She was united in marriage with Warren L. Wallis in 1932. Warren's career with the Missouri State Highway Patrol brought them to Springfield where they maintained residence through the remainder of their lives. Blanche owned and operated Dorothy's Beauty Shop for many of those years. Blanche was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She entertained her family and friends with her lively sense of humor. She and her family spent many enjoyable summers at their lake house on Table Rock Lake. She enjoyed playing the piano and painting. In addition, she enjoyed playing bridge and continued doing so with her friends at the Waterford. She is survived by her son, Larry Wallis and his wife, Patricia, of Springfield, Mo.; one sister, Beth Oldham of Springfield, Mo.; one brother, Donald Grove and his wife, Lucille, of Springfield, Mo.; a grandson, Shawn Wallis and his wife, Mary Jo, of Independence, Kan.; a grandson, Shane Wallis and his wife, Janice, of Harrison, Ark.; a granddaughter, Shannon Decker and her husband, Kent, of Harrison, Ark.; a grandson, Andrew Wallis of Roeland Park, Kan.; a granddaughter, Emily Russell and her husband, Scott, of Springfield, Mo.; eight great-grandchildren; and other beloved relatives. Blanche was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren; a son, Wally Wallis and his wife, Brenda; two brothers, Vernon and Floyd Grove; and a sister, Dorothy Quay; and other relatives and friends. In her memory, donations may be made to University Heights Church, 1010 S. National, Springfield, MO 65804.
