Pop Goes the Funeral Music by Urngarden.com

London, England

Forget associating dirges with with funerals. Funerals are becoming increasingly more hip, with more featuring pop music rather than solemn songs. The Co-op, made up of 560 funeral directors, said 68% of its funeral homes reported an increase in the number of pop songs being requested at funeral services.

The top song for use at funerals in Britain is Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings". Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" from the Titanic is the second most played funeral song, while Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" is third on the list compiled by the Co-op. There are also some unusual requests, including Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" and "YMCA" by the Village People.
