Le Funeral Guru

By lmhall | September 7, 2007

In doing research for another project, we discovered Robin Heppell, and he’s taking funeral education to the streets in Canada and the USA.

Worldwide via the internets.

Our research had to do with women in funeral service and we wanted to check out the work of Paula Staab-Polk in Illinois. Couldn’t find a web-site, but found Robin’s interview with Paula on reception center ideas.

Paula converted a bowling alley to a crematorium and a grocery store to a reception center in Chattem, Illinois. Paula is a funeral director and event coordinator and uses set design that can be easily personalized into a vignette for the family. A memorial scrapbook concept.

Total run time is 6:30 and is a wealth of ideas packed into a short time. The interview is conducted in front of a well stocked bar in Paula’s reception area. At approx. 3:07, Paula needs a drink as she gets a little froggy.

I guru, do you?
