Friday, July 18th, 2008Fred Miller, longtime KY3 weatherman passed away yesterday in his home, he was 86. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to know Fred well, he retired shortly after I arrived at KY3, but like many other Ozarkers, I grew up watching Fred and had the pleasure of hearing his co-workers speak in the highest regard for this [...]

Mullet Sweet Mullet
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008The other night at the ballpark, I found another sweet mullet cut to add to my collection. For the record! I do love a well-done mullet, or as we called them in the ’80’s a “Bi-Level”.
I think I may have had the bi-level coiff for my senior picture….I remember that they were in style at [...]

We Are All Related
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008This tatt caught my eye yesterday. Always full of questions, I asked the owner “Is that the tree of life? Are the words Hawaiian?”
Lakota was the language. The imagery represented Mother Earth, and Father Sky. The translation is:
Makpiyah Ate: Father Sky
Yuoniha: Honor
Ina Maka Yukka: Mother Earth Awaken
Wowicakl: Truth
The other arm translates to:
Yuoniha: Honor
Mitakuye- Oyasin: [...]
Celebrate Life
Friday, July 11th, 2008One of the advantages of cremation is the luxury of time. Although many families want immediate closure, memorial services and interment can actually be planned for a later date to allow for family that may have to travel, or even better weather.
Such was the case with the Lee family. When Mary Lou Lee passed away [...]
The Break Through
Thursday, July 10th, 2008Yesterday, I reluctantly hit the publish button on the BFF post, went to bed and read this passage. It totally applied to my situation and I needed the reminder.
This is what I have to do. The decision comes through awareness, not through thinking. You wake up one morning and you know what to do. [...]
Best Friends Forever?
Wednesday, July 9th, 2008We grew up together. Known each other since the fourth grade. We were best friends.
But now? I think we just broke up. Actually, the friendship has been disintegrating for several years now. Our lives have taken different paths and it feels forced when we do talk, which is not often.
We didn’t have a [...]

Found Art: The Memory Tree
Friday, July 4th, 2008Earlier this Spring, my sweet Etta was fixated on finding just the right branch to create a tree sculpture on her deck. She knew what she wanted, but couldn’t verbalize it. My mother finally drug the perfect stick home and Etta went to work.
This is what she created. This is a bit of a [...]
