Urn Garden Brush With Greatness

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Dear Internets,

I’ve met the most amazing individuals over the past two weeks.

First up:  Cindy, from Arizona, our latest member of the Widow’s Club. Her 51 year-old husband dropped from cardiac arrest. They were newly wed last August and just moved to Arizona. Cindy chose the “Going Home” themed urn.

Last week, I met the widow of this brilliant mind:

“In my lifetime, it’s hard not to look at the transistor, which was probably the single thing that caused most the technology industry to occur.”

Conrad Jutson, when asked what is the greatest invention that’s occurred in his lifetime, and of humanity.

He was on the design and development team of the best selling GE AM transistor radio, which led down this path:

And in the end? Salt of the Earth.

Do I have your attention?

Craft Project: Corporate Collage

Monday, April 20th, 2009

The artist known as Sooz cranked out this creation over the winter. Girl loves to shop and collected a few gift cards along the way.

Soozy reclaimed a low-profile table at a yard sale for  a $5.00, painted it white and then quilted the top with gift cards.

Masterpiece or Hot Mess?  You decide.

Call Me Later

Friday, April 17th, 2009

So, a client from Tuscaloosa, AL calls with an inquiry and during the discussion, he asks me to hang on a second.  I wait…..and hear water running or wind blowing, I don’t know.  But then, I swear it sounds like a toilet flushing!  Client returns and says, “Sorry, I had to take a major leak. ”

Nice.

Did You Hear About Tammey?

Monday, April 13th, 2009

She’s lost over 400 pounds!

No surgery or magic pills.

How’d she do it?

The simplest and purest form of exercise,

One step at a time.

Tammey Burns (left) and her coach Colleen Young

When I met Tammey in August of last year, she couldn’t make one lap around the track, without having to sit down. By October, Tammey had lost over 200 pounds and completed her first 10K.

You should see her now!  She’s leaner, stronger, and walking up to 10 miles a day.  Girl gets up at 4:00 AM and starts burning calories right out of bed. 6 DAYS A WEEK.

Oprah? You need to book this girl and tell her powerful and inspiring story!

Welcome To Our World

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Lately, funeral homes have received several blurbs in the press about the changing face of “death care”. Naturally, it’s all gloom and doom, the focus on burial vs. cremation and how the funeral homes are taking a hit.

We have funeral director friends in Arizona that say, “Welcome to our world!” Cremation has been 80% of their business for the last 25 years, and they’re doing just fine. Thanks for asking.
