Butterfly Garden

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

We’ve had several schools call that are doing memorial gardens on the grounds.  Tree dedication stones for a couple of kids that lost their dads. And today? A memorial stone to place in a butterfly garden to honor one of the teacher’s who’s lost a child.
The client didn’t want anything that looked too “cemetery-ish”.

A personalized […]

Bleeding Hearts

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

A welcome sight in the early Spring garden. Bleeding Hearts are hardy and easy to grow (and toxic). My Bleeding Hearts have taken a lot of abuse over the years and still come back every season. The original plant in my garden has been split and divided several times and moved all about the property, […]

In Memory of GGA

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And departing, leave behind us
Footprints in the sands of time.
Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o’er life’s solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.
Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.

Inspiration

Friday, March 7th, 2008

No time for diversions, but projects that have caught our eye of late:

This baby garden for small spaces. The artist used a cast-off wooden tray and does not recommend wood containers for YOUR fairy garden. It WILL ruin the furniture if you want a table top version. Note to self: Water plants.
In a desperate […]

Rude Awakenings

Monday, January 7th, 2008

Detox is going much slower than we anticipated. It’s time for:
Three Beautiful Things:

The Healing Vapor of Mentholated Chest Rub
Trying on a new “do” after 20 years.
Opening the windows in January.

Everyone seems to be listing New Year’s Resolutions:
Here’s a couple of mine, in no particular order of importance,

Soften the language (don’t swear so much)
Get stronger, […]

Livin’ In the Pink

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

We’ve been in the pink lately. Weather buffs, you know what I’m talking about. Winter storms. Ice and fog. We were spared the devastation this time. 12 days without power.

Sunday Stroll

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Good Monday!
Lighter Garden Fare:
Just wanted to introduce some of my research assistants on the great Irish Spring experiment. Note to self: Check into Irish Spring pay-for-post opps.

These are some tough cats. They share space with three Rotties. Good hunters. This is four of the five, missed the little black and white. […]

The Great Social Media Experiment Pt. 2

Relevancy anyone?
While we started the blog as an outreach for our clients, it has evolved into both a personal expression as well as an unexplained mystery.
It’s sexy time in the garden. Not only is the UAE landing here, but also visitors from Iran, Pakistan, and Morocco trolling for sexy Dubai. Sorry, wrong number.
I’m still getting […]

Momma Tree in NYC

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Fall is a great time to plant a seed or two, and city dwellers, I’m talking to you….YOU too can dedicate a tree, living plant, garden or sacred space in memory of your loved one.
Special thanks to CK, who has publicly shared her journey of the loss of her sweet momma.
Thanks to the boundless grace […]
