Cremation Urns Featuring the Divine Dolphin

March 8, 2014 urngarden.com

Humans have had close relationships with many marine animals over time, but none more divine than dolphins. People are drawn to them because of their intelligence, playfulness and compassion. Dolphin cremation urns and jewelry featuring the image and symbolism of the dolphin have been popular with our families.

The metal urns are hand painted in rich sunset colors and are attractive enough for display in the home, yet suitable for burial. Pendants designed to hold a small amount of ashes are available in both silver and gold.

As spirit animals dolphins appeal to a wide range of people, here’s a a few reasons why:

They travel alone or in pods and have strong pectoral flippers to help them steer through the water. Their flippers also allow them to stroke one another, which helps them develop strong natural bonds. Dolphins that are socially developed play harmoniously, swim in synchronicity and leap high out of the water.

Great Communicators
Dolphins are also awesome communicators, a trait we can learn from these mammals. They speak through a variety of sounds, clicks and whistles as well as through body movements. Spiritual traditions claim that dolphins symbolize the breath of life, freedom and harmony. Some claim that since angels are purely spiritual beings who can appear in any form, they can appear as dolphins if it would help them fulfill God’s mission.

Commonly considered the “king of fish,” dolphins are not typically dominant animals, but are endearing and offer protection to all who encounter them. Derived from Greek mythology, dolphins also offer the gift of healing and provide a wealth of spiritual messages for everyone.

Dolphins and Dreams
Dreaming of dolphins is quite common. Seeing a dolphin in your dreams symbolizes your need to communicate more clearly between your conscious and subconscious. If the dolphin in your dreams is dying or even hurt, that may be a symbol of hopelessness or depression. Finally, if you are riding a dolphin in your dream, that is a symbol that you are connected to your true self and are happy with whom you are and how your life is going.

Hummingbird Urns for Ashes

April 12, 2013 urngarden.com

Next week the hummingbird scouts will arrive in our area, and I’ll put out a feeder to attract them to my garden. They nest in the giant elm on the lawn and later in the summer it’s fun to watch them drop down from the tree and get a drink. My grandmother always hung lots of feeders when she lived in the country and my folks hang a few. It’s fun to sit out on the deck and have hummingbirds whizzing by your head. Hummingbirds in my neighborhood aren’t as visible until late in the summer when they start the feeding frenzy to bulk up for the long journey south.

Using the hummingbird as inspiration for the season of renewal we’ve rolled out three new urn styles that honor the energy and spirit of this tiny flighty bird.

Hummingbird Urn for Ashes

Hummingbird Flight urn is solid metal with a deep emerald green mirror finish and inlaid with shimmering mother of pearl. The bird and flower glow against the dark background. This style is both sturdy and delicate and would work for either an adult man or woman.

Smaller in scale, the jeweled hummingbird is a wee metal sculpture that holds a pinch of ashes or lock of hair. Hand painted in bright colors and studded with sparkling crystals, the top of the hummingbird opens to reveal a storage chamber and seals with a magnetic closure.

If a lighter color palette is more in line with your taste, we also have jewelry styled in the image or the hummingbird in both stamped sterling silver and stainless steel to create a small personal tribute. Depending on your taste and style you can create a meaningful memorial that can be worn or displayed in the home.

Bronze Cremation Urns are Simply the Best

December 11, 2012 urngarden.com

Updated 11/6/17:

It’s been a few  years since I wrote this post and I thought it high time to revisit it. Not because my opinion has changed; if you asked me 100 times “What is the longest-lasting cremation memorial you can buy?” I’d tell you 100 times over: a bronze cremation urn.

Why? Because bronze is, literally, ‘forever’.

Think of the ancient Greek and Roman bronze sculptures housed in museums around the world such as the Artemision Zeus and the Piraeus Athena, believed to both date from the 4th century B.C.E.

Both are ‘larger than life’, standing well over six feet in height. Each is certainly impressive–both then and now–some 2400 years later.

Bronze is the longest lasting memorial you can buy.  It’s forever and you can expect to pay more for a bronze cremation urn. Discriminating families who want a sculpture piece or art work for the home will choose a bronze cremation urn. These families want something decorative and low key that doesn’t reveal it’s true nature as an urn for ashes.

Bronze Cremation Urn

Bronze cremation urns are considered custom work and buyers should be prepared to wait a few weeks for the final product. Plus, you don’t even want to know what it costs to ship a bronze sculpture overnight. Urn Garden is pleased to support American artists and craftsmen, many of the bronze urns we sell are made in the USA and the main foundry we work with creates custom statues and life size memorial installations that can be seen on college campuses, government buildings, parks in addition to the urns we sell.

Autumn Season Blown Glass Urn

November 19, 2012 urngarden.com

blown glass urn for ashes
The seasons of life are so beautifully reflected in the Autumn Blown Glass Urn. The artist that creates this line of decorative urns has an style to represent each season of the year. This urn is rich with dark chocolate, earthy coppers and gold that glow in the light.  The ancient art of heating up ashes and sand to a molten level and then blowing the glass into a luminous work of art is still timeless today.

Customers that love and appreciate the art of glass sometimes worry about security of the sealing the urn. In keeping with the organic style of glass, wax can be used to seal an urn and can be purchased at an art supply store. Many of our customers in California like to use a little “quake wax” to seal the urn.
